In the second quarter of 2019, the New York Yankees Major League Baseball Club committed to a sustainable future by signing the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework launched by UN Climate Change. The Bronx Bombers became the first major North American sporting organization to buy into the Framework, which works to bring greenhouse emissions in line with the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
The Yankees joined a multitude of international sporting organizations committed to the Framework, including the International Olympic Committee, Formula E, Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, French Tennis Federation-Roland Garros, World Surf League, Rugby League World Cup, UEFA, FIFA, and the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
